Breaking News

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 our ability to take payments by debit or credit card will be unavailable from 8:00 am to approximately 3:00 pm due to a system upgrade.  If you are currently having issues paying on-line, please call 501-776-5923 and select option 3 to pay by phone.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Benton Utilities continues to monitor our distribution system as a result of the work being performed to the bulk electric transmission grid.  Our transmission provider has indicated a possible return-to-service for our Alcoa substation at approximately 19:00 this evening.  If/when this goal is achieved, Benton Utilities will begin switching operations to return our distribution circuits to their normal loads.

Electricity is delivered to our city via Entergy Arkansas’ transmission lines.  Entergy has identified a transmission system pole that is in emergency need of repair.  The proposed repair requires us to redirect power for a part of our City.  Fortunately, this only effects one of our substations, however with the temperatures on the rise in Arkansas, it is not a great situation for us or our customers.

Benton Fire Dept. is currently in the process of doing their bi-annual fire hydrant testing to make sure the hydrants are fully operational in the event of an emergency.  Customers in the area where they are testing may notice what appears to be cloudy water when they are finished. If you do, please let your cold water run approx. 3-4 minutes, and it should clear right up.

Boil order update-The boil order advisory has officially been lifted by the Arkansas Department of Health, for the cities of Benton and Bauxite.  Thank you, all, for your patience!

2/25 09:30a.m. water update - At this time, we are please to announce the lifting of the conservation request.  It will continue to help us if we follow the previous time periods for heavy use, but we're glad to say that we are back to normal operating capacity.  We continue to have leaks but they will have isolated effects and not system-wide effects.  We offer our SINCERE appreciation for all of you, and please let us know if your water service is not back to "normal".  Boil Order is still in affect.  Thank you, all, so much!

Great news this morning! Due to your continued help, we are now able to begin phasing out of the conservation status. The conservation status still applies to the follow time periods.

5p.m. till 9p.m. (highest demand period)

6a.m. till 10a.m.
“We want to thank everyone for conserving water during the current situation. The latest reports from the City of Benton, City of Haskell and Southwest Water Users Association is that while the systems are not at full capacity things are continuing to improve.
Our water plant continues to run at 100%.

Throughout the night, we progressed with filling our system and were able to get some water into a few of our tanks.

The morning demand for water used what was in the tanks, but is now subsiding.

We expect to gain a little storage before the evening demand of our users, and continue to pump water to the higher elevations of the city.

Loss of system pressure has resulted in the boil order being issued for all Benton Utilities customers.   The crews have worked are continuing to work to make sure your water pressure is restored to normal.  This service interruption and loss of normal pressure requires the water department to issue a precautionary boil order per Arkansas Dept. of Health Regulations. The Health Dept. requires this order to be issued because of the possibility of contaminated water entering the distributions system as the result of the line compromise and complete loss of normal system pressure.
